Dr. Carey A. Patrick
Dr. Carey A. Patrick is Board Certified in Therapeutic Optometry by the American Board of Optometry. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston and her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She is an active volunteer in both her community and in her profession. Dr. Patrick is currently serving on the Texas Optometry Board, a position of public trust to which Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed her in 2015. In this position, Dr. Patrick protects the public and guides doctors of optometry in ethical performance of their duties and responsibilities as healthcare providers. Dr. Patrick has served the profession of optometry by appointment to the Third Party Executive Committee of the American Optometric Association whose mission is coordinating and negotiating professional optometrists’ participation in medical insurance, state-funded insurance and private insurance programs. She has also served as Director of the Texas Optometric Association, as Chair of the Texas Third Party Committee, Chair of the Texas Public Health Committee and is past- President of the Northeast Texas Optometric Society. She is active in the American Optometric Association, Pediatric and Binocular Vision Council, the AOA Cornea and Contact Lens Specialty Section and the Ocular Nutrition Society.
As a participating provider for InfantSEE, Dr. Patrick actively promotes infant vision care and other public awareness programs for healthy childrens’ vision development, www.InfantSEE.org. She supports our Collin County community by donating her professional services through VisionUSA, (www.aoa.org/x5607.xml) the national public health program for better eye health and vision care for underserved working families. Dr. Patrick is the recipient of the 2015 Mollie Armstrong Award for outstanding service to the profession of optometry in Texas. She is also the 2002 Outstanding Graduate Professional for her research and treatment of Aniseikonia. In 2003, her UHCO professors and peers nominated Dr. Patrick for Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry, the professional organization which recognizes outstanding contributors to optometry and the vision care profession.
In our community, Dr. Patrick serves on the Board of Directors for the Allen-Fairview Chamber of Commerce, is a Founding Member of the Fairview Economic Development Council and a Charter Member of the Fairview Rotary Club. Dr. Patrick works with the Allen Lion’s Club and continues to volunteer her professional services with their annual mobile eye clinic. A lifetime member of Girl Scouts, Dr. Patrick served as troop leader for both of her daughters’ troops until they graduated from Lovejoy High School. She supports the University of Texas at Dallas Alumni & Parents Assoc., Pepperdine Waves Alumni & Parents Association and the University of Edinburgh Parents Club. For eight years, she danced in the half-time show at the Houston Rockets NBA basketball game. Her performances there were dedicated in charitable support of the SGK Breast Cancer Research Foundation. She and her family relocated to Fairview, from Houston, in 2007.
Dr. Paul J. Sietmann
Dr. Paul J. Sietmann is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He received his Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease Certification from the International Association of Board of Examiners in Optometry and passed his National Boards in Optometry while still in his final year of optometry school. He went on to receive his Ocular Therapy Certification from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and subsequently became a Licensed Therapeutic Optometrist with the Texas Optometry Board. He has also received an Ophthalmic Laser Certification from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. In 2002 he became a Licensed Glaucoma Specialist with the Texas Optometry Board and has since devoted a large portion of his practice to providing early detection and effective treatment for his glaucoma patients. He has also been involved as a sub-investigator and study coordinator for multiple pharmaceutical studies that have resulted in new and effective treatment options for glaucoma patients worldwide. Dr. Sietmann understands that glaucoma is a complicated and multifaceted disease process. His philosophy is to genuinely get to know the patient as a whole; to take the time to explain all of the variables and then map out a plan that best serves each individual patient. He believes a well informed and knowledgeable patient is a successful patient. He keeps his training and knowledge up to date through active membership in the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association and locally in the Northeast Texas Optometric Society.
On a personal note Dr. Sietmann has a daughter who is a senior at The University of Texas at Dallas and a son who is in his junior year at Texas Christian University. He and his wife attend Hope Fellowship Church in Frisco, Texas.
